Part One

The first pioneer families of Sainte-Cécile-de-Whitton arrive around 1870. They are many to come Saint-Romain and St. Sebastian. Other English colonists decided to settle more in the 10th.


Nestled at the foot of Mont Sainte-Cécile, north of Lac-Mégantic, the Municipality of Sainte-Cécile-de-Whitton lives amidst a splendid scenery bounded by the Chaudière River. The church was built in 1901 by Jean-Baptiste Verret.

Situated in the center ofFrontenac County, a few miles north of the town of Lac-Mégantic,was founded in 1870. It has about 1,000 inhabitants that have been marked by a main event being the homeland of " Curé ".


 
St. Cecilia was always a vast uninhabited land, almost entirely covered with forests. It was a vast plain bounded on the north by mountains.
 
The river system included some small streams and two lakes. Today, humans have distributed names. The mountain was named "Mont Ste-Cécile", the lakes were named "Lake Three Miles" and the "Lac desRats",because of the presence of muskrats.Brooks remained anonymous. The ranks succeeded each other. Founded in 1882 by David Morin from Saint-Romain called the village of Sainte-Cécile name in honor of his wife Cecilia. They founded a chapel which was later enlarged in church and built a rectory. In those years, the Quebec Central Railway linking Lake Megantic in Quebec happening in the municipality and two stations are built there, in Sainte-Cécile Station and St. Samuel Station.The train favored the exploitation of granite that was directly loaded on the train.
 
There were also three post officesor at the two stations and the village. Formerly the nuns built a convent (now City Hall) and taught girls; boys went to college (which is now the primary school).


There was also at one time a chapel school in St. Samuel Station and another in Rank 10. One of the priests who made ​​history is Abbé Vital Dodier, who has long been parish priest in the 1920s and which rests in the cemetery of St. Cecilia since 1930.
 
The three main lakes are Lake Three Miles, Lake Musqués Rats and Lake of Damme. St. Cecilia mountain borders the north while the Chaudière River south. Route 263 crosses the municipality, connecting in Lac-Mégantic on one side and St. Sebastian on the other.

Joseph Trépanier, son of Gideon Trépanier and EmiliaNadeau,was born February 16, 1891 in the city of Laconia in New Hampshire, Joseph is the second child of a family of 18 children, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gideon Trépanier, settled on Lot 35 to the rank 4 in Canton Whitton situated on the outskirts of Santa Cecilia and San Sebastian.
 
It's August 1913, Joseph married Hilda Trépanierside,daughter of Pierre Côté and Anastasia Carrier, She was the third in a family of 13 children, who lived on lot 01 of Range 9 in San Sebastian, Canton of Gayhurst Mr. Côté possessed the two-thirds of the land from 1907 until his death in 1913.


Once married, Joseph Trepanier built a camp in San Sebastian on lot 35 at the foot of the mountain and moved there with his wife Hilda remain there for some years, Joseph, being of US citizenship, worked in construction sites in winter and summer, carved in granite stone quarries Amédé M. Bussiere, when contracts decreased cutting stone, it warmed the "boiler."

GideonTrépanier,born July 25, 1869 in Saint-Ephrem-de-Beauce, married to Emilia Nadeau July 25, 1888, in Laconia, New Hamphire. They remained in the parish of Sainte-Cécile on Lot 35.

Trépanier Gideon died on August 6, 1945. Born on January 16, 1902.


Honoré Trépanier married Léontine Boulet November 5, 1925 in the parish of Sainte-Cécile .

From their unions, they had seven children:
Simone Trépanier, Fernand Trépanier, Denis Trépanier, Anita Trépanier, Eugene Paul Trépanier, Raymond and Huguette Trepanier Trépanierof.


Honoré trépanier practiced tailoring  Pierre. He contributed to the construction of the Basilica of St. Joseph of Montreal and the church of Our Lady of Fatima in Lac-Mégantic.
 
Honoré Trépanier defeated his house in Sainte-Cécile plank by plank to rebuild it in Lac-Mégantic where he lived until his death on April 27, 1963. This house became the family home of Simone Trépanier.
 
Simone Trépanier was born in Sainte-Cécile 29 June 1926 and married July 25, 1946, in the parish of St. Agnes of Lac-Mégantic with John Paul Bilodeau. They celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary in 2006.
 
They had 11 children:
Diane Bilodeau, Jean-Luc Bilodeau, Jacques Bilodeau, Richard Bilodeau, Catherine Bilodeau Claude Bilodeau, Francine Bilodeau, Serge Bilodeau, Sylvie Bilodeau André Bilodeau Bilodeau and Martine2008.
Trépanier Simone died July 7,
 
John Paul Bilodeau was daily and Concierge while Simone Trépanier was a housewife. To date, Simone and Jean-Paul Trépanier Bilodeau have 21 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Unfortunately, Simone Trépanier died July 7, 2008 in Lac-Mégantic-.
John Paul Bilodeau died September 19, 2014 in Lac-Mégantic
