St. Robert Bellarmine
History
The municipality of St. Robert Bellarmine, designated as such in 1944, first is the name of Sainte-Ruffine. It is in memory of the Italian bishop Robert Bellarmine we give it the name of St. Robert Bellarmine. He had a great career in the Church under different titles, among other as adviser to popes and was canonized in 1930 and is a Doctor of the Church the following year.


Before today, this territory was split into two. There was the Marlow area that was part of Saint-Gédéon and Risborough area that was part of Saint-Ludger. Risborough included Range 11 and Range 9 Marlow included and the current village. This new parish had 83 families with a population of 518 souls. The church was built in 1947. Mr. Father Sylvio Roberge was the first priest. He was invested with great determination.
Between 1951 and 1968, a mine operated for gold in the northern part of the territory by the company St-Roberts Metals Corporation. Between 1982 and 1984 the company JAG has conducted drilling in the hope of finding deposits of gold, silver, tungsten (metal gray-black color) and molybdenum (white metal).

Today abandoned, the entrances leading to the mine were convicted in 1988 by the Ministry of Natural Resources for security reasons.
The school was built in 1950 by Louis Pelchat ofSaint-Romain.We expanded the school 16 years after that is to say in 1966. Today we count 38 students.

Tourism
The municipality is located 115 kilometers from Sherbrooke, close to the border with the States US.
In the past, Saint-Robert-Bellarmin was known as Saint Rufina, a religious mission, founded in 1907 by settlers from the Beauce.

The current name of the municipality honors the memory of the Italian Cardinal Robert Bellarmine, she gets it when the canonical establishment of the parish of Saint-Robert-Bellarmin, in October 1944.

Côté economy are on the territory of Saint-Robert-Bellarmin no less than 700 000 sugar maples, located on land owned by the Department Natural Resources and on private land. This is a good place to practice there deer hunting. As for the bodies of water, Pond-du-loup and Lake Emilia are nearby.
Attractions of the municipality
Mont-Bélanger is located near Saint-Robert-Bellarmin, the Eastern Townships, near the Canada border US.
Its highest peak rises to 3,125 feet (1,184 meters either), and it is one of the highlights of the region. This is a real world of cliffs, forests, green hills and deep valleys. Lake Emily and the Black River, with its beautiful waterfalls, are his best-known attractions.
Mount Bélanger
A wonderful network of hiking and equestrian trails sprinkles the slopes of Mont-Bélanger. In total, these marked trails extend over more than twenty kilometers.
The forest ecosystem of the lake covers 46 hectares Emilia white spruce-fir. Some white spruce stems exceed 200 years.
A camping is built at the foot of the mountain, next to Lake Emily.

Mount Bélanger, located near St. Robert Bellarmine, rises to over 920 meters.
Under the cover of a breathtaking landscape between the hills, escarpments, lakes and waterfalls, nature lovers can enjoy a lush fauna and a landscape that falls nothing short of the most beautiful postcards. Via hiking and equestrian trails, above each of the many peaks emerge a new perspective.
The Scree, falls Black River and Lake Emilia are examples of sites quite lovely.
Mont Bélanger
The ecosystem Lake in Émilia exceptional forest covers 46 hectares of white spruce-fir and some white spruce stems which exceed 200 years and reach more than 100cm in diameter.
