David Joseph Trepanier
59, of 683 Flint Road, passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at the Woodridge Nursing Home in Berlin after a yearlong battle with cancer.

David was born in Barre on June 27, 1955, the son of Lucienne (Mercier) and Gerard Trepanier.

He attended schools in Barre and graduated from Spaulding High School in 1975.

Following graduation, he enlisted and served in the U.S. Navy from July 1975 to June 1979. His tour of duty began aboard the USS Papago and was followed by duty aboard the submarine tender USS Holland.

In 1979, he went to work for the Sam Daniels Stove Co. In 1981, he went to work for the Williamson Polishing Co. In 1983, he went to work for Granite Importers, where he worked until he retired in 2012.

David was a member of the American Legion, Barre Post 10, the Canadian Club, the Sierra Club and the Postal Commemorative Society.

He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, hunting, his many other hobbies and tending his garden and other plantings.

He is survived by his brother John Trepanier, of Barre, and John's longtime companion, Barbara Nelson, of Montpelier; his sisters Lise McCallum and her spouse, Thomas, and Giselle Fournier and her spouse, Ulysse "Pete" Fournier Jr., all of Barre; his sister Gheslane Raidl and her spouse, Larry, of North Ridgeville, Ohio; his sisters Claudette Trepanier and Liette Trepanier, of Barre; a sister-in-law, Millie Trepanier, of Northfield; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, friends and their families.

He was predeceased by his parents and his eldest sibling, Gilles Trepanier.

There will be no calling hours.

Family and friends were invited to the internment with military honors, to be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph Center, Vermont.

The family expressed gratitude to all the doctors and nurses who supported and cared for him, especially the staff at Woodridge Nursing Home and Dr. Steven Ades of Fletcher Allen Health Care, who coordinated his care. Also, our thanks to Dr. Roger Kellog, of Barre, who was his primary care physician for many years.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations in David's name to the American Cancer Society, Vermont chapter, 55 Day Lane, Williston, VT 05495.

Arrangements were in the care of the Pruneau-Polli Funeral Home, 58 Summer St., Barre.

WILLIAMSTOWN - A graveside service for David L. Trepanier, 59, of Flint Road, who passed away on July 15, 2014, at the Woodridge Nursing Home in Berlin, was held on Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph Center, Vermont.
The Rev. Lourduraja Simeone, parochial vicar of St. Monica Catholic Church in Barre, officiated the service.
Words of remembrance were shared by Ray Hartson, a friend.
Full military honors were accorded the deceased by the Navy Operational Support Center of White River Junction, Vermont. The American flag was presented to John Trepanier, brother of the deceased, by Cmdr. Sarah Nolin.
Following the burial, family and friends gathered at the Canadian Club in Barre Town for a time of fellowship and luncheon.

Arrangements were in the care of the Pruneau-Polli Funeral Home, 58 Summer St., Barre.
